After having been pregnant for nine months, you are suddenly now a new mother. You are able to see and hold your baby instead of feeling the kicks inside you. While pregnant, your body was able to care for all of baby’s needs without too much on your part. Now you must take care of these same needs by actively doing things; things such as feeding, diapering, bathing and most important loving.
Quite an adjustment is needed by you, the father and any other members of the family at this time. One day you’re feeling organized and in control of things. The next day nothing you do goes right. In fact, it seems you’re making it worse.
In addition to your change in routines, you actually may feel tired, spiritless and blue; for no reason at all, tears seem to flow. This is a very normal situation for many new mothers. Yet there are some very real reasons it happens.
After giving birth, you are physically tired from your body’s efforts to deliver the baby. Also, the hormones and fluids in your body change rapidly and suddenly. This change may happen over a few hours or may take several days. This rapid change affects you by making you feel tired and sometimes blue and depressed or known as postpartum depression. Also, your baby may be getting all of the attention instead of you.
Fathers too, feel let down and somewhat left out and confused. Other children may feel jealous of the new baby’s place in the home. They may feel he has replaced them in their parent’s eyes.
These are normal feelings and reactions, but very real just the same. There are some things you can do to help make these adjustments easier.
You can’t do everything yourself and you need as much rest as possible. You need to get away from the house even if it’s only for a short time. You need fresh air and a change of pace can refresh you for days.
In order for you to regain your strength and health sooner, remember to call (Hot Line 97825015) our confinement nannies for help.
